My first job out of college was at Eddyline Kayaks. Tom Derrer, the owner, hired me on as a CNC programmer. He had an older 5-axis router that he was using to trim parts out with and I had to adjust the programs and fix them as I saw fit to machine the parts out....without any CAD/CAM help! It was a brain workout every day. I liked it, though.
My current job is with Cascade
DAFO in Ferndale, WA. Great company. I got hired on in their R &
D department as a CNC programmer and have been promoted to Product Design Engineer. I get
to run tests, design products, and think up manufacturing processes to get the jobs
done. It's a very fun and challenging job.
