Why America Needs Ron Paul

The following article is a mixture of my feelings of America; the good, the bad and the ugly. This article is not intended to disrespect the United States or their government (i.e. I don't feel like having the FBI show up at my door and interrogate me about my intentions of this article). I am merely trying to show what I think needs to be fixed and voicing my opinions. Ron Paul has a great mind. He goes back to the basics on every single issue at hand. He believes that the foundation that our contry was built on was done for a reason and that we should return to that style of government again.

Our Economy

Ron Paul thinks that a lower tax rate will benefit American citizens in more than one way. I tend to agree with him. Beyond the fact that it saves me money, it also gives me a chance to spend that extra cash on what I want. A lower tax rate for average Americans would also put more of a burden on the more wealthy people in the US. I don't think I'll get any arguments here. If you need more proof, here it is. The majority of our past presidents have been Republicans and this has gone over well for the wealthy people in the US. On average, the top 1% of Americans are now 111.3% more wealthy. I think that they can take on a little more of a burden for our country.

I'm not saying that we (average Americans) deserve more than they (wealthy Americans) do. Sure, they worked for their money. They put in long hard hours to get where they are and make the money they make. I can appreciate that. The simple fact is, we're all in this together. Whether the wealthy like it or not, they depend on the middle class to keep the economy going. The middle class are the spenders; the 9-to-5er's that make an average wage and then go shopping on the weekends.

Our Foreign Policy

Ron Paul thinks that Americans money should be spent on problems in America. That may seem like a simple statement, but the fact is America spends a very large amount of taxpayers money on other countries. I'm not saying that we shouldn't help countries out when they need it. I would, however, like to see our nation get taken care of first. We have to have priorities for our money and I don't get the feeling that our money is being spent how most Americans would spend it right now. Americas involvement in Iraq has strained us fiscally and emotionally.

Our Debt

Ron Paul thinks that we should go back to the gold standard. If you don't know about or understand this, please read this article. Our failing economy, rising debt, crashing dollar and lowered interest rates are not going to go away if the government gives everyone $600 to spend. Where would this money come from in the first place? Thin air. Guess where it's going to end up once we get it? Odds are, if you get a check for $600, you'll spend it. When you spend it, the majority of that money is going to go in the pockets of an American citizen that doesn't get taxed as much as you do. That person also doesn't spend the same amount of money that you do (if you look at the earnings/spendings as a ratio). If America continues to rely on other countries to provide for our financial needs, we're going to keep falling further and further behind. Our dollar will continue to fall, the few exports that we have will become less valuable and our economy will suffer.
